THE STODDART
PLAYWRIGHT AWARD
supporting the development and production of new Australian plays
Now in its second year, this new award was established to recognise outstanding new plays that display an authentic, inventive and contemporary Australian voice, with the winner receiving a $10,000 prize. The aim of this award is to recognise and support the career of Australian writers. The winning play will then be provided with potential pathways to the mainstage.

Applications for the 2023 Stoddart Playwright Award will open in February and close August. Shortlisted plays will be announced later in the year with the winner being announced as part of our annual season launch.

To submit an application the play must meet the criteria set out in the application form.

Generously supported by the Stoddart Family, this prestigious award recognises an outstanding play text displaying an original Australian voice.
